Inertia
Starting a blog is a stupid idea.
How often do you visit a blog and chuckle when you see it has been inactive since 2013?
Did the the author run out of ideas? Get lazy? Bought out by a publisher?
At best, blogs become a cringe-worthy artifact of your digital past. At second-best, blogs get you roasted on your opinions, your grammar, of your font selection.
Instead of writing a blog, the much safer option is to do nothing. Let the musings, napkin sketches, and topics you want to deep-dive on get lost in the ether, simmer on the back burner, or shared by someone else.
So, that's exactly why I decided to not create a blog.
A blog-ish, however, has no commitments.
It’s a space where I can share half-baked opinions on areas I am not expert on, but I find interesting. Right now (2022), this short list includes:
- Climate destruction
- Food systems
- The future of capitalism
- Frameworks, 2x2 charts, and other mental models
- AI ethics
- Economic policy (esp. Fed policy)
This initial blog-ish post is an attempt to overcome inertia and get a flywheel spinning.
