If I live for 50 more years, and read 5 books per year, that’s 250 books left in my life. What should they be?
Books on my radar for 2024:
The Power Broker, Robert Caro
Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari
To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
The Carbon Footprint of Everything, Mike Berners-Lee
Something dense and academic - Amartya Sen; Noam Chomsky; Douglas Hofstadter
Something published outside of the US or Britain
Books I finished in 2023:
The Trial, Franz Kafka
Not my cup of tea, but I can drop a Kofka-esque Josef K reference at the watercooler.
Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom.
Classic, sweet, kind, sentimental. Great airplane/ vacation book.
Infinite Jest, David Foster Wallace
Absolutely brilliant. Read digitally, so I don't get the pride of showing off this 1,200 page saga.
Big Sur, Jack Kerouac
Great read for the transition from summer to fall. Will pick up On The Road.
Trust, Hernan Diaz
Excellent gift from my sister. Hernan Diaz was on Planet Money a few weeks after I finished.
Books I put down in 2023:
The Innovator’s Dilemma, Clayton Christensen - I think this is a good example of an 80/20 book*
The LEGO Story, Jens Andersen
Best Podcast Series: The Big Dig, WBGH
